Hey there, TLA music fans. “Pleased to meet you.” Well, as many of you know, Denver, CO has been home base for our little rag tag blog site for the past four years. We’ve enjoyed every minute of having our HQ in the Mile High City and today something exciting is happening that makes it just a tad bit sweeter. What is the thing that is causing all of the excitement? Golly gee, I’m glad you asked. This morning, tickets went on sale for a concert that will take place on Sunday, May 26th, 2019 here in lovely Denver. What is the concert that is causing so much commotion? Golly gee, I’m even gladder you asked the follow up question. Drum roll please: It’s the Broncos Stadium at Mile High stop of the Rolling Stones: 2019 No Filter Tour, of course. theLeftAhead staff has already secured our tickets and needless to say, we’re super-excited. In honor of the upcoming epic show in our humble little adopted town, I’m posting one of the best Stones songs of all-time. Enjoy…
The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil
Verse One:
Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and faith
And I was ’round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Chorus:
Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name
But what’s puzzling you is the nature of my game
Verse Two:
I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank, held a general’s rank
When the Blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank
Chorus:
Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name
But what’s puzzling you is the nature of my game
Verse Three:
I watched with glee while your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades for the gods they made
I shouted out, “Who killed the Kennedys?”
When after all, it was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reach Bombay
Chorus:
Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name
But what’s puzzling you is the nature of my game
Interlude:
Oh yeah, get down heavy!
Chorus Two:
Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name, oh yeah
But what’s confusin’ you is just the nature of my game
Verse Four:
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails, just call me Lucifer
Cause I’m in need of some restraint
So if you meet me, have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I’ll lay your soul to waste
